These make an essential item to any steampunk costume. They add that danger and protective tough look to your steampunk character. A pair of goggles is not hard to come by at all, especially in our online store.
Ankle boots go well with steampunk costumes. In fact the ones with long silver chains and metal medals will serve to give an excellent look. Spats which are simply knitted pieces to go over your regular shoes with a ribbon laced through them will transform them into gorgeous looking steampunk accessories.
- SHORT SKIRTS
Stitch your long skirt into a ruffled up style. Skirts with loads of gathers are good to be worn with black tights and long boots. Laced up skirts with different colours are great too.
A toy gun constructed of brass can be hung in your belt or just carried to give the finishing look to your costume.
- BLOUSES AND SHIRTS
Steampunk blouses come in different styles. If you love lace then you are in luck. There are many attractive designs with attractive lace used all over. Alternatively, the easiest way to build on a costume is to start with a cream, brown or black shirt for either men or women, and add accessories to bring it into the genre’s style. Think jabot, necklace, sleeves, wrist adornment and other items in the style that will dress up a ‘regular’ shirt.
- CORSETS AND VESTS
Corsets for ladies are perfect over the top of a regular style blouse. One with steampunk or distinctly Victorian styling will work well. For men, a waistcoat or vest with pocket watch adorning it and a jabot will create the style you are looking for.
- POCKET WATCHES
A vintage pocket watch will add to your costume and allow you to keep up with the time too. Generally they are styled in a turn of the century way and often brass coloured for an authentic look.
- WRIST WEAR AND GLOVES
There is a variety of wrist accessories in the steampunk genre, all of which can really set off an outfit. Gloves can be worn by either men or women and slave bracelets are an extra adornment for the ladies.
Gears are a very important part in any steampunk creation. If your creation does not contain some gears then it is not quintessentially steampunk. You can buy gears and fit them onto any of your accessories. Boots, badges, headgear, caps and guns can all benefit from glued on gears. Gears and levers are what drive steampunk.
